Swatch: China Glaze Lemon Fizz

So today right when we were leaving work, we got hit with a blizzard. White-outs and black outs in some places in my city. Pretty scary driving home today.

But, I have a cheery yellow swatch for you:

January/30/2013
This is China Glaze's "Lemon Fizz" a nice pale, pastel, yellow creme. Took 3 coats, and I found some minimal streaking. This is a great colour for Easter nails. It's wearing pretty well, I've had very little wear on the tips, and the colour is very nice and soft. You might be wondering about the pinky finger. I got anxious and picked it off, also I apologize for the state of my cuticles, winter is being tough.

Soft Flowers

This isn't an official Valentine's Day design but it is really soft, girly and romantic looking, so it could work well for a Valentine's manicure.

Jan/27/2013
The base used is 3 coats of "Glints and Glam" by Sation, with Konad "White" stamped in plates M26 and BM221 (ring finger). Really simple, really quick and very delicate but still pretty.

More official Valentine's Day nail art will be starting up next week, but in the meant time check out last year's ideas under the Valentines tag in the right side bar.

Have a Happy Monday!

Flossing

Let me start off by saying, this was an experiment with striping tape, which is why you won't be receiving a full hand photo. Also, let me state this has nothing to do with dental floss.

So, I do a little bit of sewing, a lot lately actually, and in my sewing adventures I've made a few corsets, not the greatest, but they did what I needed them to do. On this topic, if you've heard of/wear corsets you might notice some of them have decorative flossing on them where the boning channels are.

That decorative flossing, inspired this adventure:

January/20/2013
The base red is "Hey Sailor!" by China Glaze, my all time favourite. And the gold striping tape was purchased from the BornPrettyStore. I think for an experiment it turned out pretty decent. The only downside I found was the tape started lifting at the tips on my nail and got pretty scratchy, but I think that could be solved with me trimming it closer to the nail tip.

Have a Happy Monday!

Sation Glints & Glam: Swatch

Another swatch for you all on this lovely, albeit freezing Friday.

Today's is "Glints & Glam" by Miss ProNail's Sation:

January/17/2013
This shade features holographic silver glitter in a large hexagon shape and micro glitter suspended in a blush pink jelly base. This was done with 3 coats, I found that to get good even glitter coverage you had to shake the bottle quite a bit. Other than that, this colour is beautiful if you want some subtle glam to your nails for daily wear. It held up pretty well to my work shift this morning, zero wear against the tips. The formula for this one is nice, goes on smooth and dries pretty quickly, even though I did use a few thickish coats.

Have a Happy Friday!

Deer

Back with more nail art!

Jan/14/2013
Deer skulls, and flowers. Pretty simple but it put me back into my groove. The base for these is "Blackboard" by OCC (which I picked up from Sephora). The skulls, and flowers were all hand painted by me using acrylic paints. I'm quite liking this manicure even if it is a touch morbid.

Color Club Blue-Ming: Swatch

I've got another swatch for you, this is one I've swatched previously, but I felt a better photo would be good too. Click here to see the previous swatch.

Color Club "Blue-Ming"

Jan/03/2013
A really nice cyan-blue type polish. This was really quite blinding when I had it on, and my camera seems to agree. I like it though, I have a future design to try with this as a base. The wear on this was pretty good, minimal wear on the tips after the third day. This is done with 3 coats, I had a bit of trouble with streaking, but I managed to sort it out after the 3rd coat went on.

Overall, I like this shade because its bright, blinding, unusual, and it wears well.

Have a good week!

I'm sorry..

Sorry everyone, there won't be anything posted today, an old injury in my arm has been/is acting up with something fierce these past few days. So I have not been able to get anything nice done in regards to nail art.

I hope your week is starting off better than mine.

Have a Happy Monday!

Fan Those Flames: Swatch

It's the year 2013! Congratulations! We made it through last year :)

As one of my (few practically zero) new year's resolutions, I'm going to swatch my entire nail polish collection properly. I'm doing it more so for my own reference, but I do hope it helps others out there who want to check out certain shades.

First up for this year is:

"Fan the Flames Fuchsia" by Miss Pro Nail Sation

Jan/01/2013
This is a pink hue, which when dry leans towards the magenta, it looks like it has warm undertones against my skin, but on viewing it in the bottle, I'm quite positive it has blue undertones.
So this is a bright shade, very cheery for winter up here in Canada. It's very close to a neon shade, so it does dry matte, but it is heavily pigmented. This is just 2 coats and as you can see no streaks, and optimal cover. So I'd say the formula is pretty good, it's also just the right thickness, but still dries quick. Sation also has a nice large brush which makes application a dream and super quick.

The only problem I had with this was that it chipped off in less than a day :(. Although, in hindsight that could be solved with a different basecoat, since this is the first time I've had that happen while wearing a Sation polish.

Thank you for reading!
